Local Cultural Initiatives and Other Activities

The main idea of supporting local cultural initiatives was to make the local population aware of their creative potentials, and than to provide possibilities for them to realize their own ideas, thus boosting the community self-confidence. Through these activities also public awareness on different issues was raised and frame for public dialog on intercultural and sensitive interethnic issues was offered.
Mobile teams were involved in supporting different local initiatives in all three rural regions, like the cultural happening in Tearce aiming to help bridging culture barriers of different ethnicities in Tearce, or the cultural initiatives in Rostushe and Broshtica-Debarska Zupa, which in order to foster inter-regional cooperation were united in one joint event. Together with local partners, the youth of Brostica set an amateur theatre production and the group from Rostushe prepared a dance performance based on very interesting local tradition. Both of these productions were performed in Rostushe and in Broshtica/Zupa. In both villages the program was enriched with performances of local musicians. 
In the region of Tearce for the celebration of 2007 New Year a special cultural program (exhibition, dance and music performances and for the youngest, Santa Claus with presents) was organized.
The mobile team helped the local population of Tearce in their efforts to establish a local NGO called Center for Education and Development. This association aims to fulfill the needs of the local communities in that region and to work on different projects in order to create social and cultural infrastructure. Together with them the Day of culture and ecology in Tearce was organized. Activities consisted cleaning of the village square and main street, different educational and entertaining activities for children and environmental awareness campaign.
ASDRENI Evening dedicated to the Albanian writer Alex Stavre Drenova – Asdren was organized in the village of Prsovce. Activities for this occasion consisted reading of his poetry, concert of local musicians and open discussion about his work and the role he has in the Albanian culture.
During the summers the project team was actively helping in the preparation of Reka Cultural Summer, a manifestation that has become a tradition in Reka region and includes a versatile program of concerts, exhibitions, contests, poetry readings, thus enriching the cultural life in the region for more than a month.
In this region of Rostushe and Debar Zupa the mobile team was involved in the processes of creating of regional youth strategy for Rostushe and Debar Zupa through series of workshops for internal NGO development. Representatives from Center for Education and Development – Tearce, MEC Rekanski Biser, and Bistra from Rostushe as well as Kodzaturk from Debar Zupa took part.Together with the local partners from Reka and Zupa region as well as municipality authorities the mobile team organized conference dedicated to Cultural, social and educational development of Reka and Zupa region. Aim of the conference was to draft future steps of local development as well as to point responsibilities and concrete actions that should be taken by the local stakeholders.
