Pocket Cinema

Pocket cinema in Tetovo, which is functioning in the spaces of MAC, is very important because today in the city of Tetovo, a city with more than 110’000 inhabitants, there is no one functioning cinema (the 3 cinemas were all closed), so it is actually the only space for public film screenings in the city.
In the pocket cinema some 100 different feature films in approximately 150 projections were shown during the last three years. The film repertoire is diverse and includes actual achievements of the world cinematography, but most of the shown films were independent and non-commercial productions that treat social themes relevant for our community. With capacity of 50 seats, during the past three years some 6.000 people have attended the screenings as audience (free of charge).

The pocket cinema now has regular screenings once per week on Thursday evenings; additionally there have been some screenings with discussion following the screening (school violence, human trafficking, Frank Zapa music, disabilities…) and organized festival-like presentations of national cinematography (days of Italian film, German short film, American video culture etc).
